Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition - SILVER and GOLD

Would you like to do something for your DofE Award Silver or Gold expedition that doesn't involve blisters, carrying a rucksack or sleeping in a muddy field, then why not give sailing a go? As a DofE Approved Activity Provider (AAP), we can provide individuals with the necessary skills and experience to carry out a fulfilling and exciting Gold or Silver sailing expedition in and around the spectacular Firth of Clyde.

Join us for 7 or 9 days, depending on the level you are wishing to attain, to complete your training, practice and assessed expedition modules all in one go.

We start from the basics, so absolutely no previous sailing knowledge is necessary to participate in one of our courses.

All of our sailing packages are all-inclusive, so no hidden costs when onboard. They are conducted on a MCA coded sailing yacht, supervised by experienced fully qualified RYA instructors. You will have your own bunk aboard a 42ft sailing yacht, with a fully functional galley (kitchen), two heads (toilet) and a cosy saloon area (lounge)… we even have a TV and DVD player, although we tend to spend the evening relaxing, chatting and watching the sunsets!

In addition to supporting your DofE Award Expedition requirements, you will also work toward completing the RYA Competent Crew certificate during your time with us. For those that already have sailing experience, there may even be the opportunity to complete the RYA Day Skipper certificate, although that will require the completion of an additional online theory course prior to the start of the practical course.

Go on… make your DofE Award an experience to remember for a lifetime. You never know, it may lead on to something bigger than you could even imagine!!

Duke of Edinburgh Award Residential - GOLD

Already have your DofE Award Gold Expedition shorted, then why not join us on one of our weekly scheduled RYA courses to complete your DofE Award Residential?

All of our 5-day RYA sailing courses are perfectly suited to help you complete your DofE Award Residential module. You will spend five days and nights aboard our 42ft sailing yacht with a small group of people have never met before sailing in and around the spectacular Firth of Clyde. You will work as a full member of the crew in planning each day, working the sails, helming the yacht, preparing and cooking meals… having an amazing experience and making new friends along the way.

As with the DofE Award Expedition, no previous sailing experience is necessary to join a course, and as you will be participating in an RYA course during your time with us, you will also be working toward an RYA certificate from RYA Start Yachting and RYA Competent Crew, all the way up to RYA Day Skipper or RYA Coastal Skipper, depending on the amount of sailing experience you have before joining us.

The DofE Award Residential module is a requirement for the Gold Award only, so make the most of it and do something extra special…

The activity may count towards your DofE Award Residential Section, but it is your responsibility to check with your DofE manager that this residential meets the DofE programme criteria for the residential section.
